Trios Bois explores insecurity as a springboard for creative inspiration in their first Contemplative Series performance. In an all-American contemplative program, Trios Bois brings together music composed during the height of the Cold War with music created within the first decade of the 21st Century. Featured works are by “Greatest Generation” living composers: Kirke Mechem and Donald Waxman, as well as “Generation Xers”: Damian Montano and Sean Osborn.
Trois Bois, meaning “three woods,” is a wind trio featuring oboist Laura Reynolds, clarinetist Patricia Shands, and bassoonist David Granger. With a mission to share their love of music for winds, the trio performs music from the 18th century to the present day and specializes in the rich wind trio repertoire of the 20th century. Trois Bois has been concertizing since 2009 and has just completed its first recording which will be released in the Fall of 2017.
